Start with an introduction to the city and its history in Piazza Sordello, the heart of ancient and modern local life. Explore the old town with your expert guide, and learn about the fascinating history of Mantova and its ruling family, the Gonzagas. Under this powerful family, Mantova grew to become an important cultural and artistic center during the Renaissance.
Visit the main monuments of city as you walk through the old part of town. You’ll see the Temple of San Lorenzo, the most ancient church in Mantova, which dates back to the end of the 11th century. Other important sites include the Cathedral, the Bibiena Theatre, the Palazzo della Ragione and the Church of San Sebastiano.
